Chrono Cross
System: Playstation
Publisher: Squaresoft
Chrono Cross was a game that was doomed from the start in the hearts of many gamers who expected nothing less than the second coming of Chrono Trigger. They didn't get CT and there is a chance that we will never see a game quite like CT again. What did fall into the hands of gamers who were able to see past the fact that it wasn't CT, was a fantastic game with wonderful music, an original plot, an easy to use battle system which requires strategy, and a character named Glenn. There were a bunch of references to Chrono Trigger throughout the game. Everytime I saw something from CT a big smile came across my face. The references were not forced and actually were an integral part of the game. The cutscenes were unbelievable as were the in-game graphics. Many people complained about the pacing of the plot, but I personally loved it. Towards the end of the game you got hit by a heavy dose of plot. The revelations just keep hitting you. No, CC didn't live up to the legend of CT but if you let that stop you from playing this game then shame on you.
