Well, I have added my list of movie rankings for all 2005 releases that I have seen, but I think that I am going to try something different with that list. It'll take a lot more work so I'm not going to do it right now (I want to go to bed). Really, I didn't say much of anything in this update. I may be stuck in a state of vagueness for days after writing that stupid Final Paper for Group Decision Making. I have never said so much about so little.

A Review

I have added a review of We ♥ Katamari to the site. This also means that you can now see how the review system is going to work for Video Games. The sidebar will link to a list of reviewed games from each system (will probably be NES, SNES, N64, GameCube, PS2, PSX, and possibly Dreamcast). Enjoy the review and go out and buy Katamari.

I am currently drinking orange juice out of a bottle that has something crusty and orange on the bottom. Something needs to be done about this.

We ♥ Katamari Almost Here
9/20/2005
3:57 PM

The wait for We ♥ Katamari is almost over, assuming the guy from Gamestop was right this time. The wait really started for me in early August when I first noticed that Katamari was slated for a September release. When I reserved my copy at the Gamestop in the Dayton Mall I discovered that Katamari fever is more widespread than I initially realized. Although, in hindsight, the fact that I had a conversation about Katamari Damacy with a stranger in a Gamestop demonstrates Katamari's unifying power. If Ariel Sharon and Mahmoud Abbas would just sit down in front of a TV and a Playstation 2 and play Katamari there could be peace in the Middle East. Tupac and the Notorious BIG could have settled their issues in Katamari's battle mode; Diddy may have objected to that though. How would he have ever gotten big without his friend's death to exploit? I should get back to Katamari though; every possible Diddy joke has been told already anyway.

September 6th came and went without a new Katamari game because its release date was delayed until September 20th. I can only hope that the extra two weeks were not used for improving the translation because Katamari wouldn't be Katamari without the fantastically horrendous translation. The principle is the same as with foreign B-Movies. Nobody would ever actually want to watch one of them with subtitles. The only thing a movie like that has going for it is the horrible dubbing, the lack of synchronization between the person's lips and the dialogue, and the bad translation of dialogue that was bad even in its native tongue. This goes for Katamari too. I'm not interested in seeing the translation perfected. I am content with just laughing at the dialogue and being left to wonder if all the innuendo was intentional or the product of the sloppy translation. Mostly, I was just eager to start rolling islands into my huge Katamari again.

Two weeks have come and gone and September 20th has arrived. I had a feeling for most of the day that the store still wasn't going to have We ♥ Katamari and my fears were confirmed when I the salesman who took my call told me that Katamari wasn't going to be in the store until tomorrow, the 21st. The fact that they advertised the date of availability as the 20th when they probably knew all along that it wouldn't be in the store until the 21st kind of annoys me. It strikes me as a bad business practice.

Tomorrow is the day though. I plan on jamming to Katamari music when I drive to the mall to pick up my copy of the game. Driving to Gamestop to pick up We ♥ Katamari with The X on the radio doesn't seem nerdy enough for the occasion. I think I need to go all out... short of dressing up as the prince and carrying around a home made Katamari. I have some dignity.

Site Opening
9/20/2005
12:05 AM

I've owned the reknuge.net domain since February of 2003. It has mostly served to host other sites that I have worked on. Now, two and half years later I have finally decided to actually do something with the main domain itself. This is going to be a place where I review movies, video games, and music. I also may occassionally make commentary or just write my mind. It's going to be a constant work in progress as I figure out what this site is actually going to be. I'm going to have fun.

I also just realized that I'm having compatibility issues. Internet Explorer sucks as usual. It STILL does not support PNG transparency and so while the news box looks fine in Firefox, there are white corners on the box in Internet Explorer. I'll fix that when I have a chance.
